Most of the voters of “There is such a people”, “Vazrazhdane” and “Bulgarski glas”, whose candidates did not make it to the run-off for the mayoral seat in Haskovo, supported Nikolay Stavrev – the candidate nominated by the Initiative Committee and supported by “We continue the change- Democratic Bulgaria”, BSP, etc.
However, the votes were not enough for him to win the mayoral seat, according to Alpha Research’s November 5 voter profile exit poll data. Stanislav Dechev from GERB won the runoff against Stavrev with a convincing lead (60% of the votes) and a second term in office.
Most of the voters e.g. of Ivan Ivanov (“There is such a people”), who was also a candidate for mayor, but did not make it to the runoff, preferred to vote for Stavrev, sociological data show. Slavi Trifonov’s party officially declared support only for Vanya Grigorova (BSP, Left!) in Sofia and for Georg Spartanski in Pleven, who, however, lost.
Most voters of Georgi Georgiev – the candidate of “Vazrazhdane” in the city, also gave their support to Stavrev in the runoff.
The data from the exit poll show that more men preferred to vote for the GERB candidate Stanislav Dechev, and women – for Stavrev. 5.1 of the voters voted “I do not support anyone”.
In the first round, Dechev received the support of 47.72% of the voters, and Stavrev was supported by 20.08%.
In the municipal council, the majority was given to GERB (32.6%), followed by DPS 21.5%, “Bulgarian Voice” 9%, “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” (7%) and others. (see more here).
