November 10, 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the death of the composer Georgi Shagunov, bandmaster of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment, author of the solemn anthem “Independence” and about 1,500 other musical works in celebration of Burgas and the Motherland, honorary citizen of Burgas.
This year we celebrate another 150 years since the birth of Shagunov, 115 years since the declaration of the Independence of Bulgaria and 130 years since the creation of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment, based in Burgas for over 50 years, with the history of which the fate of many people from Burgas and the region.
We invite citizens and members of the public, the city’s musical and cultural community, schoolchildren, students, representatives of the media and all other interested parties to the events that will be organized on this day:

11 a.m. – laying of flowers and wreaths at the grave site – the beginning of the Alley of Composers and Artists of the Central Burgas Cemetery
In the “Sea Casino” Cultural Center:
17.00, “Georgi Baev” hall – Exhibition opening;
17.30 hours, the site in front of the Casino – Concert of the Burgas Wind Orchestra, conductor Anastas Kamilarov;
6:00 p.m., “Petya Dubarova” hall – presentation of the book “One Testament of Georgi Shagunov”, author – Rumyana Emanuilidou;
Organizers are Burgas Municipality, State Archives, “Znatsi” Publishing House, “Society for Spiritual Manifestations” Association, “Lebed” Hunting and Fishing Society and “Aldor” PR Agency
Relatives of Georgi Shagunov from France are expected, who will visit Bulgaria, Burgas, the grave site for the first time and will attend the cultural events.
