Works on the material:
The 579th anniversary of the Battle of Varna will be celebrated on November 10 (Friday) at 11:00 a.m. in the Park-Museum of Battle Friendship – 1444 “Vladislav Varnenchik”.
The celebrations will begin with a military ritual performed by the Naval Forces, laying of wreaths and flowers in front of the mausoleum of King Władysław III Jagiellonczyk and a memorial service by the clergy at the church “St. Dimitar” in memory of the fallen warriors.
Immediately after the ritual, from 12:00, the temporary exhibition “The Long March” will be opened, dedicated to 580 years of the First Crusade of the Polish-Hungarian King and Janos Hunyadi. It traces the circumstances surrounding the conclusion of the Ferraro-Florentine Union in 1439 between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, the subsequent convocation, the preparations and the course of the march. The story is also illustrated with exhibits that preserve the memory of those tense times for Europe. Among them are medieval weapons and equipment, some of which were discovered on Bulgarian lands.
