Much has been made of the colossal One Belt One Road initiative launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013. To date, nearly 150 countries and 30 international organizations have joined the initiative, making it the largest economic network in human history. This conviction is further strengthened when one sees the statistics on trade and investment volumes associated with the Belt and Road Initiative.

For example, the number of freight trains from China to Europe has increased from 1,700 per year to nearly 16,000. The countries that are part of this major Chinese initiative trade over two trillion dollars in turnover annually, and even in the post-pandemic period, this figure is growing significantly. Chinese companies participating in the Belt and Road Initiative have created more than 421,000 jobs in partner countries.

The various Chinese goods and products reach today, thanks to “One Belt, One Road” to more than 300 ports in nearly one hundred countries, and only the train connections under the initiative connect the Far Eastern giant with 211 European cities. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved 181 projects in 33 countries worth 35 billion as part of the Belt and Road Initiative.
