“Vazrazhdane” expected growth in these elections, but recorded a decline
“In the country the battle was mayoral, in Sofia it was political. These are different realities.” Sociologist Andrey Raichev commented on this in “Hello Bulgaria” on NOVA.
According to him, in the country GERB has a huge result of about 500,000 votes. This is indicated by the data from the voting for municipal councilors. “DPS is second with about 280,000 votes, BSP has nearly 200,000 votes in the country. This is a great success for the party. PP are fourth,” Raichev explained. According to him, there is a political shift. “The behavior of “Vazrazhdane” turned out to be key in these elections. They expected growth, but have a decline. They reacted to this decline against Grigorova and did not support her. This is a political mistake. “Vazrazhdane” did not adapt to the new situation and became angry with Grigorova,” the sociologist added.
He specified that the general political picture will not change soon. “For the PP-DB, the union with Borisov is a very unpleasant thing,” Raichev added.
According to Dimitar Ganev, what happened in Sofia with the victory of Vasil Terziev showed a radical change in principle. “GERB is a leading party, and Borisov realizes that in this situation there are not many moves to leave the ruling majority. He will continue to wait for PP-DB, who bear the basic responsibility of the cabinet, until the moment of rotation. Then he will be able to demand a different balance within the majority, but not overthrow it or trigger new elections,” Ganev said.
According to him, Vanya Grigorova has achieved her goal. “She has amassed enormous political capital that will probably be used over the course of the next few months for a possible project in the left space, which is already quite clogged around Ninova’s leadership,” Ganev said.
