For the second time, Ilknur Kyazim was sworn in as the mayor of Momchilgrad municipality, and Ersin Yumer was elected as the chairman of the Municipal Council with a full majority. This happened during a solemn session of the disposing authority. During the meeting, the municipal councilors and mayors of 38 settlements were sworn in. Among the official guests were the regional governor of Kardzhali Nikola Chanev, the deputy chairman of the 45th, 46th and 47th National Assembly Mukaddes Nalbant, the chairman of the OIC Pavel Gatev, former mayors Akif Akif, Birol Köseyumer and Erdinch Khairula, former municipal councilors and many residents of Momchilgrad. The meeting was led by the oldest municipal councilor, Emil Topalov.
The municipal mayor, municipal councilors and mayors of settlements were sworn in. Pavel Gatev handed over the certificates from the municipal election commission.

“In the last 4 years, Momchilgrad Municipality imposed new standards in local self-government and the city became a model for modern improvement. The administration is visibly adapting to the new socio-economic realities and can serve as an example in terms of the modernization of the infrastructure and the appearance of the settlements”, said Nikola Chanev in his welcoming speech.
Ilknur Kyazim thanked the voters and called on the municipal councilors and mayors of settlements in the next 4 years not to forget about the people who voted for them.

“We all know very well what the problems are in the settlements in Momchilgrad municipality. For the decision of some of them, the state must be with us, with the small municipalities, with our citizens. Our rulers in this parliament and the government should hear about the problems of the village of Sindeltsi, of Bagryanka, of Momchilgrad. Every settlement, no matter how remote it is, as long as it is within the borders of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian state and government must do everything possible so that these citizens can live like Europeans,” said Ilknur Kyazim.

After the ceremonial part, the municipal council moved on to the first and only item on the agenda of the meeting – the election of the chairman.

An interim selection committee was elected, in which representatives of all political parties participated in the executive body. One candidacy was put forward – that of the previous chairman, Ersin Yumer from DPS. A secret ballot followed. Ersin Umer received the votes of all 28 municipal councilors present.

“Momchilgrad must develop, and what has been achieved so far must be built on with joint efforts. We will strive for all decisions to benefit citizens and businesses, for the development of Momchilgrad municipality,” said Ersin Yumer.
