I want to thank all the people that the future of their city depends on them. The change is slow, but as of today it is an irreversible process. There is no mayor to rely on from today, who relies on clientelistic support and feudal dependence. This was stated to journalists by the co-chairman of PP-DB Kiril Petkov on the occasion of Vasil Terziev’s election victory in Sofia.
“I want to especially thank a girl from our headquarters who was admitted to the hospital from exhaustion,” he added.
Vasil Terziev also spoke: “I want to start with a big thank you”.
“I also want to thank the political parties that stood behind me,” he added.
He pointed out that a very serious representation was achieved among the regional mayors – 19 for the coalition in Sofia.
“Now the more difficult thing is coming, which is to prove that, in addition to winning elections, we can also govern,” Terziev said.
“We can promise you that we will work extremely motivated these 4 years, that what we have promised can happen. That there can be a different government,” he pointed out.
“We will work to make Sofia the city of big dreams,” he promised.
For us, the important thing is election communication. Not only before the election, but also after the election. Every citizen should be able to know what is happening and why it is happening,” explained Terziev.
“My team and I will work for the interests of all Sofia residents. I will be the mayor of all Sofians – both those who supported me, and those who did not, and those who did not vote,” assured Terziev.
“Today is a good day and we will all roll up our sleeves so we can start working on the problems of the municipality,” he concluded optimistically.
Boris Bonev from “Save Sofia”, who was elected as a municipal councilor, said for his part: “On this fine day, a real political earthquake happened in Bulgaria.”
“This is a resounding victory over the previous model. The citizens of Sofia entrusted our association with the enormous responsibility of changing Sofia,” he stressed.
“This moment is particularly emotional for me. This is a 14-year battle in which I dedicated my life to Sofia being a better place to live,” Bonev admitted.
“Today we have a mayor of Sofia and 19 regional mayors. We should also thank the other right-wing voters who are outside our coalition. In reality, we even know – that Mr. Borisov with his support, even though most GERB voters voted for Vanya Grigorova, the people who voted for right-wing Sofia – both from GERB and from Sinya Sofia, actually made this difference,” stated Kiril Petkov.
“Varna has shown that it can take the city back. Pazardzhik showed that there is no fortress in Bulgaria that is stronger than the people’s desire for change. People in Blagoevgrad said: “We do not accept the fact that we have become one of the poorest regions in Bulgaria. We believe that our future can be different,” he said.
“That spark that we lit 3 years ago has now seriously ignited. He can say that more than 1/3 of every Bulgarian will be governed by a mayor from our coalition. This is a big responsibility,” he added.
