The annual awards for outstanding achievements of the authoritative publication Euromoney recognized UBB for the overall performance of the bank in the field of sustainable development
United Bulgarian Bank (UBB), part of the Belgian financial group KBC, was named “Best Bank in Bulgaria in the field of ESG” in the authoritative Annual Euromoney Awards for Excellence, organized by the specialized British magazine Euromoney. The publication evaluates the participants in the competition based on their achievements, innovations and performance in the last twelve months. In choosing UBB as the best bank in Bulgaria in the field of sustainability, the bank’s ability to demonstrate the best performance compared to its competitors and its ability to help introduce ESG practices play a decisive role.

Over the past year, the bank has successfully implemented a number of projects in the field of sustainable development, including the ESG Academy for employees, partners and students in partnership with the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University, as well as the UBB Agro calculator, developed with the assistance of the Institute for Agrarian Economics.
As the largest financial group in the country, KBC actively works to reduce the negative and increase the positive impact on the environment. In 2022, an 81% reduction in carbon emissions was reported for KBC Group Bulgaria compared to the base year of 2015.
The award from Euromoney is the next for UBB in the field of sustainable development after the “Terra Carta” seal of the Initiative for Sustainable Markets and “ESG Awards”, organized by PWC Bulgaria.
