The exposition shows works of painting – oil and acrylic, created mainly in the last two years. Some highlights from the artist’s earlier creative periods are also included. It will be possible to see the compositions characteristic of Ivan Obretenov’s art on the border of the abstract, in which human figures appear as signs in the conventionality of mental landscapes and poetic spaces.
Ivan Obretenov was born in 1948 in Varna. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the “St. Kliment Ohridski” University and is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. He has solo exhibitions and participation in collective international exhibitions, including in Berlin, 1983, Moscow, 1983, Gdansk, 1986, Prague, 1987, Aosta, 1988, Toronto, 1989, 90, 91, “Gagliardi design” gallery, London, 1992 , “Drouot”, Paris, 1991, Dom Wittgenstein, Vienna, 1997. It is included in the Dutch collection “1001 Reasons to Love the Earth”.
