Today, 06.11.2023, the first of a series of lectures was held, which will be held by the District Court – Pleven within the Educational Program “Judicial Power – Informed Choice and Civil Trust. Open courts and prosecutor’s offices” during the 2023/2024 school year.
Today’s lecture was presented by the chairman of the District Court – city of Pleven – judge Vera Naydenova to students from the tenth and twelfth grades, studying in the specialty “Judicial Administration” at the State Financial and Economic High School “Intellect” – city of Pleven, and two topics were discussed : “Functions of the judiciary. Structure of the judicial system. Supreme Judicial Council.” and “Presentation of the professions of “judge”, “prosecutor”, “investigator” and familiarization with the status of magistrates.
At the invitation of the Chairman of the Regional Court – Pleven, Elitsa Spasova, Head of the Child Protection Department at the Social Assistance Directorate – Pleven, and psychologist Stella Mihailova – Ilieva, working at the Center for Public Support, took part in today’s lecture, who presented to the students their role in the legal process, introduced them to the rights and responsibilities of children and answered questions, thus resulting in an interesting discussion.
As part of this year’s Educational Program, the Pleven District Court has prepared a total of 21 topics, which will be presented by the president of the court – judge Vera Naydenova, by the deputy – president – judge Ralitsa Marinska and by judges Chavdar Popov, Dimitar Kirilov and Asen Daskalov. A total of seven schools have applied for participation in the program, namely: PGT “Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov”; OU “Dr. Peter Beron”; MG “Geo Milev”; PGRTO – Pleven; PGEHT “Prof. Asen Zlatarov”-Pleven; “Intelekt” – Pleven city and “Dimitar Dimov” PGPCHE – Pleven city.
New this year is the participation of a social worker from the “Child Protection” department at the Social Assistance Directorate – Pleven city, a psychologist at the Center for Public Support and an inspector “Children’s Pedagogical Room” at the RU of the Ministry of the Interior – Pleven city with the help of which the goals of the educational program will be able to be achieved in an even more complete volume, and they are related to increasing the legal culture of adolescents, familiarizing them with the rights and obligations they have as citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria, how not to become a victim of crime and how they could to protect their rights.
