They are checking policemen who received a report about an inadequate taxi driver in Stara Zagora, BNR reported.
A video posted on Facebook by a customer in the taxi shows the driver drinking alcohol. The police was informed about the case by calling 112 from the client, who traveled with his girlfriend for about 15 minutes in the taxi. “When he closed the windows, I smelled a faint smell of booze. I don’t know what he was drinking, but from his actions throughout the trip, I can say it might have been alcohol,” he said.
According to the head of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Stara Zagora, senior commissioner Lazar Hristov, the taxi driver was not identified in time. Therefore, an investigation is being carried out in the police and there will be disciplinary punishments for employees.
According to the established rules, our colleagues are obliged to react to each such signal, to provide feedback to the sender of the signal, which was not done, and I consider this as a gap in the work of colleagues in the field, he commented.
On average, 6 to 8 drivers with over 1.2 per million of alcohol are found by the police in Starozagorsko in a week, and their cars are confiscated. There are 60-70% more inspections on the roads of the district this year, compared to last, according to police data.
