Within a week, the newly elected mayors and municipal councils in the 9 municipalities in Kyustendilsko will be sworn in and take office.

Already at the end of last week, the procedure for taking the oath and assuming office took place in the smallest municipality – Trekliano, where already in the first round they elected a mayor, and in the 19 villages deputies are appointed.

The schedule for the first meetings of the newly elected municipal councils has been made – until next Monday, announced the regional governor, Eng. Alexander Pandurski:

“Wednesday morning Nevestino, afternoon – Bobov dol. Thursday Dupnitsa and Boboshevo, Friday morning – Kyustendil, afternoon – Rila, and on Monday Sapareva Banya and Kocherinovo. The mayors enter like everyone else, the session of the Municipal Council opens, everyone is sworn in , sign an affidavit, this is their intervention”.

Preliminary talks are already underway in Kyustendil about who will be proposed as the chairman of the Municipal Council.

It remains to be seen whether the previous mayor, Petar Paunov, who served 4 consecutive terms and who was the leader of the right-wing coalition of 15 parties, including GERB, will become a councilor or resign.

The coalition has 11 seats in the 37-member local parliament.
