In 22 municipalities in the Sofia region, mayors were elected in the first and second round of local elections. The district includes the following municipalities: Anton, Bozhurishte, Botevgrad, Godech, Gorna Malina, Dolna Banya, Dragoman, Elin Pelin, Etropole, Zlatitsa, Ikhtiman, Koprivshtitsa, Kostinbrod, Kostenets, Mirkovo, Pirdop, Pravets, Samokov, Svoge, Slivnitsa, Chavdar and Chelopech

According to the final results of the municipal election commissions, GERB is the first political force in the district with nine mayors of municipalities, according to a reference on the websites of the Municipal Election Commissions. They are followed by “BSP for Bulgaria” with four. The independent elected candidates are two. With one elected candidate each are PP “Dvizhenie Gergyevden”, MIR, local coalition “Bulgaria of the Regions”, PP “Bulgarian Social Democracy – Euroleft”, KOD (Conservative Union of the right) and the PP “Movement Forward Bulgaria”. One candidate was nominated by an initiative committee and one was supported by a local coalition, writes BTA.

Who are the newly elected mayors in the municipalities of Sofia region:

Anton – Andrey Simov (independent candidate) was elected mayor of Anton municipality. Simov won the elections with the support of 84.92% or 563 of those entitled to vote.

Bozhurishte – Georgi Dimov (PP “Dvizhenie Gerg’ovden”) was elected mayor of Bozhurishte municipality. Dimov won the elections with the support of 57.88% or 2,199 of those entitled to vote.

Botevgrad – Ivan Gavalyugov (MIR) was elected mayor of Botevgrad municipality. Gavalyugov won the elections with the support of 55.97 percent or 6,792 of those entitled to vote.

Godech – The previous mayor of Godech, Radoslav Asenov, nominated by GERB, won a new mandate at the head of the municipality, receiving 50.69% of the votes. 1,282 of those entitled to vote voted for him.

Gorna Malina – The previous mayor of Gorna Malina, Angel Zhilanov, appointed by an initiative committee, was re-elected as mayor of the municipality. 64.62 percent of those who voted or 1,828 voters voted for him.

Dolna Banya – Vladimir Jambazov (GERB) was re-elected mayor of the municipality of Dolna Banya. He won the election with the support of 92.35% or 2,282 of those eligible to vote.

Dragoman – Andrey Ivanov wins the runoff and is the new mayor of Dragoman. 1,307 people or 51.76 percent of voters voted for Ivanov.

Elin Pelin – Ivaylo Simeonov, nominated by the local coalition “Bulgaria of the Regions”, which includes VMRO-BND and ITN, for the third time won the post of mayor of Elin Pelin municipality with 57.34 percent and 4,760 voters who supported his candidacy.

Etropole – Vladimir Alexandrov, nominated by the local coalition (MK) “BSP for Bulgaria”, wins the runoff and is the new mayor of Etropole. 3,631 people or 53.38 percent of voters voted for him.

Zlatitsa – The candidate of the PP “Bulgarian Social Democracy – Euroleft” Lyubomir Tsvetkov was elected mayor of Zlatitsa in the second round of local elections in the municipality. 67.91 percent of voters voted for him.

Ihtiman – Kaloyan Iliev from GERB wins a new mandate as mayor of Ihtiman. Iliev received the support of 58.35 percent of voters. 4,834 of those entitled to vote voted for him.

Koprivshtitsa – The candidate of the KP “BSP for Bulgaria” Maria Toromanova was elected mayor of Koprivshtitsa in the second round of the local elections in the municipality. 52.51 percent of the voters in the municipality voted for her.

Kostenets – Yordan Angelov, nominated by the GERB party, was re-elected mayor of Kostenets municipality with 65.97% of the voters’ votes.

Kostinbrod – Traiko Mladenov from GERB wins a new mandate in Kostinbrod. He received the trust of 53.10% of the voters.

Mirkovo- The current mayor of the municipality of Mirkovo, Tsvetanka Iotina from KOD (Conservative Union of the Right) has collected 67.21% of the support of the voters in the municipality already in the first round.

Pirdop – The candidate of the local coalition (MK) “BSP for Bulgaria (PP “Bulgarian Progressive Line”, PP “VMRO-Bulgarian National Movement” and coalition “The Left!”)” Angel Gerov (current mayor) was elected mayor of Pirdop on the second round of local elections in the municipality. 67.95 percent of voters voted for him.

Pravets – The previous mayor of Pravets municipality, Rumen Guninski from “BSP for Bulgaria” remains in his post with the support of 84.46%.

Samokov – Angel Jorgov is the newly elected mayor of Samokov municipality from the GERB political party in the second round of the local elections. 55.09% of one hundred voted for Jorgov, which is 8957 votes from those who have this right.

Svoge – Emil Ivanov from the PP “Move Forward Bulgaria” collected 61.33% of the vote in the municipality of Svoge.

Slivnitsa – Vasko Stoilkov was re-elected mayor of Slivnitsa municipality. The candidate nominated by GERB won 58.8 percent of the votes in the local vote.

Chavdar – Grigor Daulov was re-elected mayor of Chavdar municipality. The independent candidate won 65.69% percent of the votes in the local vote.

Chelopech – Alexi Kesyakov was re-elected mayor of Chelopech municipality. The candidate nominated by GERB won 64.8 percent of the votes in the local vote.
