The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office put Viktor Spiga on trial for the murder of Alena Shterk. The incident happened on May 26 last year, and the woman was killed in a particularly painful way.
According to the indictment, Spiga and Shterk met at the end of 2019. They initially lived together in the defendant’s apartment, and in November 2021 they rented an apartment on Chukar Street in Sofia. Along with the apartment, they also rented a garage in the same building on level -1.
During their cohabitation, the two registered a commercial company, and in the meantime, Sterk also taught Latin dances. Her last occupation, which was also her hobby, became the main reason for the misunderstanding between the two, as Spiga often showed jealousy, caused scandals and insulted the victim in order to force her to stop her activities related to Latin dancing.
The two separated for good in February 2022. Shterk remained living in the apartment on Chukar Street, which she secured with alarm and security equipment. She continued to use the garage cage to park her personal car. On April 11, 2022, Spiga took the victim’s personal car for use, and was supposed to return it to her after 2-3 days. When this did not happen, Shterk filed a complaint with the Seventh Regional Office – SDVR, and after the intervention of the prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of the Interior, a few days later, the accused returned the victim’s car. She immediately took the car to a car wash, where it was thoroughly cleaned. After that, the accused did not enter the car again until the murder of the victim, the indictment states.
On May 20, 2022, Spiga made a reservation for a round-trip flight to Italy and back. On the evening of May 26, 2022, the accused went to the victim’s address and waited for her to come home. At the same time, Shterk was visiting her mother. She left around 10:40 pm and drove to her home in her private car. Arrived around 00:00 on 27 May 2022 and went down to level -1 of the building to park the car. Seeing this, Spiga went near the car. When she got out of her car, Spiga hit her with a hard blunt object. He hit her many times on the head, body and limbs. Thus, he caused her a severe open craniocerebral injury and numerous hemorrhages and abrasions on her head, body and limbs.
Each one of her disabilities was accompanied by a feeling of pain and suffering of varying intensity until the moment when the victim fell into an unconscious state. As a result of the severe open craniocerebral fracture, hemorrhages under the brain membranes and contusion of the brain substance, Sterk died. Immediately after that, Spiga took Shterk’s mobile phone, put her body in the trunk of her private car, got into the driver’s seat and drove off in the direction of Pernik, the indictment added.
When he reached a grassy area in the area of ​​the old road leading to the Batanovtsi pumping station, he stopped, took out the woman’s body from the trunk of the car and threw it on the right side of the road, covered it with a tarpaulin, on which he placed stones, bricks , building materials and plastic elements from a car. After that, he got into Alena Shterk’s car and returned to Sofia. Again with her car, he visited a metropolitan hypermarket, where he bought food, socks, a floor brush and cleaning products, went to her address and parked her car at level -1.
He immediately set about cleaning the car, then put it in the garage cage, went up to Sterk’s apartment, where he washed his hands and the cleaning supplies he used and put them in a plastic bag, which he took when leaving the co-op and threw in a container for garbage. Spiga left the victim’s home around 5:45 a.m. on May 27, 2022, and returned to his residence. Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on the same date, he rented a car and drove to Greece with it, the indictment also states.
