The candidate of the local coalition (MK) “BSP for Bulgaria (PP “Bulgarian Progressive Line”, PP “VMRO-Bulgarian National Movement” and coalition “The Left!”)” Angel Gerov (current mayor) was elected mayor of Pirdop in the second round in the local elections in the municipality. 67.95 percent of the voters in the municipality voted for him, with 100 percent of the protocols of the sectional election commissions processed, according to unofficial data reported to BTA by the Chairman of the Municipal Election Commission (OIC)-Pirdop Nikolay Mihailov. There were 6,341 voters in the municipality as of November 5, and the voter turnout – 39.58 percent, or 2,510 people, Mihailov said.

In second place in the mayoral race is the candidate of the PP “Agricultural National Union” – Vasil Kafedzhiev, supported by 29.73 percent of the voters.

2.32 percent of those who voted chose not to support either of the two candidates who made it to the runoff, the data also show.

Solving the problems with the underground and above-ground infrastructure in the municipality is among the leading tasks before Angel Gerov, which he outlined in response to a question from BTA.
