A test of the BG-ALERT system will be held today on the territory of the Gabrovo region.
For half an hour – from 12.00 to 12.30, a message will be broadcast, accompanied by a specific sound and vibration, even with activated quiet (silent) mode.
Tests are performed for technical suitability check before commissioning of the system. A schedule has been created on a regional basis. After the completion of the regional tests, a national one will also be conducted, the administration added.
BG-ALERT is a system for cellular broadcasting and distribution of messages to warn the population, implemented by the General Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population”. It will be used for disaster, accident and emergency notification. A public information site has also been developed, which contains information about the signals and the system itself.
On November 1, due to an error, a large number of subscribers received on their mobile phones without warning message from the developing BG-ALERT system.
The contractor company apologized to all affected parties and institutions for the anxiety and inconvenience caused. From there they explain that because of the planned national tests of the BG-ALERT system for early warning through mobile networks, preliminary tests were conducted.
