Forum on Schengen and Bulgaria’s key role for EU border security – Bulgaria

The management of the prosecutor’s office will participate in a conference in the EP dedicated to the enlargement of Schengen and the role of Bulgaria for European border security

Attorney General Borislav Sarafov and Deputy Prosecutor General Maria Pavlova will participate in the conference “Enlargement of Schengen: Bulgaria’s key role in the field of border security”.

The forum will be held in the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels.

The event will be opened with a video address by the President of the EP Roberta Mezzola, representatives of European Commission and the Spanish Presidency of the European Union.

The conference is expected to be attended by representatives of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) and the European Police Service (EUROPOL), members of the European Parliament and others. On the Bulgarian side, the directors of DG Border Police Atanas Ilkov and DG Border Police Anton Zlatanov will take part in the discussion.

Among the main highlights of the forum will be the progress achieved by Bulgaria and Romania on the accession of both countries to the Schengen area, as well as the strategic position of our country for ensuring the security of the external borders of the community.
