“Denkov went too far! The law on fuel compensation with 73 cents per liter was stillborn and that’s why they didn’t implement it. No, it’s not stillborn! For your government, the interests of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people are stillborn.” This is what the chairman of the energy commission in the parliament, Delyan Dobrev, wrote on the occasion of Prime Minister Nikolay Denkovo’s words from earlier.
He told BNR that it is clear that the government has expressed support for the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Koveshi, who was visiting Bulgaria and met with him, to take control of compliance with the sanctions on Russian oil imposed by the EU.
Denkov stated that he has prepared a statement of claim, which he will file on Monday.
“I will judge Delyan Dobrev”,
Denkov said, adding that Dobrev will appear in court to explain these personal attacks.
“I have carefully read the report, there are many suggestions in it that suggest that something may have happened, but according to the Prime Minister, they are based on information that is not true. According to him, if the proposal to cancel the three-day derogation is implemented, whatever proposal has already been submitted by the People’s Representative from GERB-SDS Delyan Dobrev, the scenario that was reported by the Security Council about the lack of enough oil for the refinery, which will very quickly exhaust its reserves and the fuel will become more expensive, will be realized. is very clearly written in reports that came to the Security Council,” Denkov pointed out.

In the coming days, I will file a report with the Chief Prosecutor and the head of DANS against the prime minister and the responsible members of his cabinet, Dobrev said in response.
There is, in my opinion, no political expediency in this, through inaction or formal actions presented as the implementation of the law, to arrive at a situation where it is necessary for the legislative power to require the executive power to fulfill its legal obligations.
It is incompatible with the functioning of the rule of law that the responsible minister “kindly” failed to do what the law ordered him to do, and this failure continued for months without any objective reasons for this.
Regardless of what legal qualification could be given to these actions and inactions, there is no doubt that there is a gross disregard for the laws in a rule of law state in which the State should be the embodiment of the law in society. The non-implementation of the Law by institutions that should be the guarantor of its strict compliance and application raises the question of whether foreign interests – financial and political – are being served to the detriment of Bulgarian citizens and the economic stability of the country.
I will ask the Chief Prosecutor and the DANS to request the relevant documents and information regarding the fulfillment of the obligations under the Law, ensuring its entry into force and its implementation.
I will ask the Chief Prosecutor and DANS to request information from the Ministry of Finance, whether it is necessary to notify the Law and receive a positive opinion from the EC under &2, para. 1, item 2 of the PZR of the Law.
I believe that there is a reason to take action to clarify the presented facts and circumstances, and depending on the results of the inspection, I hope that action will be taken, including by contacting the relevant law enforcement authorities.
