The District Prosecutor’s Office – Lovech has announced that it is leading the investigation of yesterday’s accident on the Lovech-Pleven road, in which the president and coach of the “Olympic” club Stefka Velikova and two volleyball players aged 23 and 25 died.
Around 3:45 p.m. on road II-35 (Lovech-Pleven), at 31 km., on a wet and slippery road surface, the driver of a Honda car (aged 22), moving in the direction of the town of Lovech , enters the oncoming traffic lane and hits the Volkswagen car, driven by a 50-year-old driver, moving in the direction of the city of Pleven.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Honda car and two passengers in it died – aged 24 and 59. The fourth passenger was taken to a hospital in Pleven in a serious condition. The driver of the “Volkswagen” was examined at the hospital in the town of Lovech and released, and a blood sample was taken for alcohol and drug use, the results of which are awaited.
An inspection of the scene of the accident has been carried out and all the necessary investigation actions to clarify the reasons and circumstances that led to the accident are to be carried out.
