The investigation is under the direction of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Veliko Tarnovo
Investigators are determining the cause of a brutal accident with two victims through witness statements and examinations. On November 15, pre-trial proceedings were initiated under the leadership of the District Prosecutor’s Office-Veliko Tarnovo on the occasion of a serious traffic accident that resulted in two deaths.
Around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday on the Sofia-Varna first-class road in the area of the village of Novo Selo, a Toyota car driven by D. C., 36 years old, with American citizenship and passenger V.M. aged 36, a Bulgarian citizen, moving in the direction from Veliko Tarnovo to Sofia and the oncoming Mercedes passenger car driven by A.A. – 40 years old and with passenger AA, 19 years old.
As a result of the accident, the two men in the Toyota died on the spot.
“The causes of the traffic accident that occurred are in the process of being clarified, and according to initial data, the Toyota car entered the lane of the oncoming Mercedes, where the collision between the two vehicles occurred.
An inspection of the accident scene was carried out with the participation of an auto expert, a medical examiner and a duty prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office. The driver AA was tested for alcohol and narcotic substances with a technical means and the samples were negative. The bodies of the two deceased persons were taken for autopsy to the Medical Center of MOBAL “Dr. St. Cherkezov”, having taken a blood sample for alcohol and drug use, the results of which are awaited.
“Witnesses are being questioned, expertises have been assigned and all necessary investigation actions are being carried out to fully clarify the reasons and circumstances that led to the accident,” the state prosecution announced.
