Most importantly, the refinery must continue to operate. Without a refinery, in the coming years we will not be able to deal solely with the import of finished products. The worst option is for the refinery to stop, I don’t even want to imagine that.
If it stops at all, then we will not talk about fuel prices, but we will hope that there will be. If the refinery continues to operate with this oil, things will continue this way. We may not even feel the shift to another type of oil, it depends on the market. Svetoslav Benchev from the Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association commented on this in the “Day Live” show.
“Within three days, probably the refinery will not be able to switch to another type of oil. It is practically impossible. There must be a certain deadline: will it be October, will it be March. It cannot be changed every day and every hour depending on the mood of the politicians,” he added.
Benchev explained that it is important above all to have security, for the refinery to work, for the rest of the players to work calmly, in order to avoid a collapse. “If things on the international exchanges continue, even the prices may go down in the coming days. In the worst case, if something extraordinary does not happen, I hope that we will meet Christmas with these fuel prices or even a little lower.” , he also commented.
Benchev pointed out that where we will get oil after the derogation is removed depends on what contracts the owner of the refinery will sign. “If the oil has to pass through the Bosphorus, it will take more time, it will make the delivery more expensive. The refinery can work for 10 days with one delivery. There must be rhythm and security of supply,” he noted..
