“You are one team, and Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov is your captain. As in sports, great success can only be achieved when you are united and help each other.” With these words, the legend of Bulgarian football Hristo Stoichkov addressed representatives of all political groups in the Municipal Council of Plovdiv and the team of Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov days after his inauguration.
In the meeting hall at Stefan Stambolov Square 1, the winner of the Golden Ball noted that even as mayor of the Trakia region, Kostadin Dimitrov had won the respect of the citizens and wished him many more successes at the head of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
“Thanks to Hristo Stoichkov for the support. The trust that he and all of you give me is very valuable to me. I receive many congratulations from the people of Plovdiv who expect us to do so that they can live better. We will work to ensure that Plovdiv moves forward, that citizens’ problems are heard and that we offer solutions for them,” assured Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov.
The newly elected chairman of the Municipal Council – Plovdiv Atanas Uzunov emphasized that working with the representatives of all political parties is extremely important to ensure a functioning Municipal Council.
The meeting was also attended by the head of the “Sports and Youth Activities” department, Petar Zehtinski, who spoke about his most vivid memories from the football field with the legend Hristo Stoichkov.
