Bulgaria and Hungary played to a 1-1 draw in the qualifiers between the two teams from Group G of the fight for Euro 2024. Martin Adam opened the scoring with a header in the tenth minute. Spas Delev equalized in the 24th minute. In the 35th, Valentin Antov received a second yellow card and the “lions” remained on the field with a reduced squad.

Before the first whistle of the Pole, Daniel Stefanski, it became scary around the “Vasil Levski” stadium, with serious clashes between the police and the fans who came to protest against the management of the Bulgarian Football Union.
At the beginning of the match, the Hungarians had two chances. In the second minute, Callum Styles fired wide of Daniel Naumov’s goal, and after 240 seconds striker Martin Adam was off target with a header. Meanwhile, sirens continued to be heard around the stadium.
In the tenth minute, however, Adam made no mistake. Dominik Soboslay’s cross from a foul found him uncovered in the goal area of Daniel Naumov and the Magyar nine hit the net with his head – 1:0 for the Hungarians.
In the 20th minute, Bulgaria had the first opportunity to threaten the visitors’ frame. Kiril Despodov broke away well in the Magyar penalty area, but failed to shoot, then tried to pass back to the onrushing Filip Krastev, but the ball did not reach the Los Angeles midfielder.
In the 24th minute, Bulgaria equalized! Spas Delev found himself in the arms of his teammates. The star of Ludogorets received the ball in the penalty area of the Hungarians, then found the top left corner behind Denes Dybush – 1:1!
In the 35th minute, Valentin Antov received a second yellow card for stepping on the ankle of Martin Adam in the center of the field – Bulgaria was left with ten men on the field.
Soon after, Ilia Gruev received a straight red card after Endre Botka, breaking away to the attacking field of ours, collapsed on the grass. However, the Polish referee reviewed his decision with VAR and correctly canceled the sanction of the Bulgarian footballer.
