The name of Bulgaria appears 50 times in the Guinness Book of Records with the most diverse achievements. This is indicated by the data of the organization’s press office, which provided BTA with five examples of some of the most curious records of Bulgarians.
The oldest of them is that of the athlete Stefka Kostadinova for the highest high jump for women – 2.09 meters. This happens at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics on August 30 in Rome, Italy.
The fastest men’s 500m ice water swim is the most recent record set by a Bulgarian. The result of 5 minutes and 36 seconds and 49 hundredths was achieved by Radostin Krastev on January 13, 2023 at the Fifth World Ice Swimming Championships in Samoyen, France.
Ivanka Ivanova holds the record for the most hairstyles styled in eight hours. There are 330 of them, and the record was set on December 4, 2016 in the city of Pazardzhik.
The largest unpublished crossword puzzle with 93,769 terms was created by Hristo A. Yonitzov, checked in Sofia, Bulgaria on June 3, 2014.
The sweetest record is for the largest candy brand logo mosaic. Its dimensions are almost 50 square meters – 49.59. It was created in the capital, and the record was confirmed on September 29, 2017.
