Among relatives and friends, born on November 16, 1923 in the Kyustendil village of Chudintsi Milan Apostolov celebrated his 100th anniversary. The centenarian was a volunteer at the front, serving in the Thirteenth Rila Infantry Regiment during World War II. He was a participant in the battles at Stracin and Kochani in today’s Republic of North Macedonia.
After the end of WWII worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for five years, then entered the BA – served in the Monostrike post in Haskovo, after the dislocation of the regiment returned to Kyustendil. For 23 years he worked in the shoe factory, the municipality and in Geological Surveys-Kyustendil.
He is a member of Union of Veterans of Wars since its creation in 1933 in Kyustendil.
“Over the years, Milan Apostolov has actively participated in the events of the union, he has been awarded many times,” said the chairman of the Regional Union of War Veterans, reserve colonel Dimitar Panayotov. He and the secretary of the union, Rumen Solunkin, honored the jubilee. At the celebration, Milan Apostolov was presented with a diploma by Dimitar Panayotov on behalf of the Ministry of Defense He received and plaque from the Central Committee of the Bulgarian National Academy of Sciences – Sofia, the Regional Council of the Serbian Academy of Medical Sciences – Sofia awarded Milan Apostolov with a diploma and a cash prize of BGN 200.
With a cake and a wish for good health and much happiness, the jubilee was honored by the mayor of Kyustendil Municipality Ognyan Atanasov and from the chairman of the Municipal Council – Kyustendil Dimitar Velinov.
