Students donated funds for the treatment of the 19-year-old volleyball player who survived the accident near Lovech

The students from the Graduation Year 2024 at the Profiled Language High School “Exarch Joseph I” in Lovech participated in the donation campaign in support of Pavel Kalev, who was seriously injured in the accident on November 11 on the Pleven – Lovech road. This was announced by the press center of the municipal administration, referring to Ivanka Dragneva, a psychologist at the high school.

The sum of BGN 3,750 has already been transferred to a donation account for performing a life-saving operation on the young man. The funds were collected by the students during the holidays and festivals in the high school organized by the class.

“Keep the spirit of Ezikova and pass the baton on to others after you” – with these words Ivo-Konstantin Nachev turned to his classmates and wished them to not stop doing good deeds.

19-year-old Pavel Kalev is the only survivor of the traffic accident on the Pleven – Lovech road on Saturday. In the accident, three people lost their lives – the president and main coach of the Volleyball Club “Olympic” Stefka Velikova, and two competitors of the men’s team – Simeon Simeonov and Kaloyan Minkov.

Kalev, who is a first-year student at Pleven Medical University, needs an interventional cardiology procedure that is not covered by the National Health Insurance Fund – placement of a stent on the descending thoracic aorta due to dissection. The life-saving intervention will be carried out urgently in a private hospital and the amount is worth BGN 5,000. And then he’s going to have hip surgery.

“Let’s bring Pavel back home healthy, smiling and even stronger than before! Let’s show the Kalevi family that they are not alone!”, appeal friends of Pavel.

Donation boxes have been placed to collect funds for Pavel Kalev in the “Zora” store – Panorama Mall, Pleven Medical University, “Ivan Vazov” Medical School, DKC “Avis Medica” OOD – registry office.
