We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” want the resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov, it was understood from the speech of Kiril Petkov in the National Assembly after a meeting of the formation.
“People cannot be beaten up in an institution, Stoyanov must bear responsibility,” pointed out Petkov. He stated that the chairman of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) Borislav Mihailov should resign immediately.
The reaction is on the occasion of last night’s protest against the leadership of the BFS, which turned into clashes with the police and riots. “Dnevnik” monitors in real time the reactions and what is to come after the protest – read everything important from the day here.
“The entire Bulgarian public saw the brutality shown by certain officials of the Ministry of the Interior, which means that from an operational point of view the necessary organization was not created by the structures, and because of this, political responsibility must be taken”, declared the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” Atanas Atanasov. And he added that the formation is demanding the resignation of Kalin Stoyanov before the prime minister.
Provocation and/or lack of control: how the protest against the football union blew up
“The main responsibility lies with the Ministry of the Interior and let’s not transfer the responsibility to the mayor Vasil Terziev”, said Hristo Ivanov in defense of the newly elected mayor of Sofia.
GERB Chairman Boyko Borisov demanded that Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev resign immediately. According to him, Iliev has been inciting tension in recent days. However, Borislav Mihailov should resign before him, Borisov believes. He commented that Vasil Terziev allowed football hooligans and agitators to gather in one place.
“How are you going to gather opposing agitators for a peaceful protest,” Borisov asked. “Because of one, not to call him with the most insulting words, Borislav Mihailov, blood was spilled in Sofia, because Terziev gave permission and confronted them”.
The chairman of the DPS parliamentary group, Delyan Peevski, announced that he had known for a long time that the ruling formation would demand that the interior minister resign.
“We have information – it’s good to start looking for the interior minister, and I hope he has the courage to tell the truth that he was pressured by them in the elections to work in favor of “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) . That’s why they are asking for his resignation,” said Peevski.
However, he distanced himself from these requests. “It is absurd to ask for the resignation of a person who did not meddle in the elections and (under whose leadership) the Ministry of Internal Affairs did its job,” he pointed out.
