The municipality of Ardino will build a holiday village next to the village of Star Chitak and a lift over the Arda river, which will facilitate the access of tourists to the Patmos fortress, which is located on a peninsula between the Arda and Borovitsa rivers and opposite the newly opened panoramic platform above the large meander of the Kardjali dam. The mayor of Ardino Izet Shaban explained that
there is currently a push to build a cable car from Old Chitak to the very top of Patmos. After that, the follow-up actions are to be discussed with archaeologists.
The municipality of Ardino will seek funding for the conservation and restoration of the fortress itself: “But first we will look to ensure access to it. Before that,
of course, the roads must be repaired. You know that this municipal road this year entered the list of the fourth class road network, so in this area the roads will
be rehabilitated. This road will be asphalted to the bottom, next to the cable car and the platform, and after that we plan to make a detailed development plan and a holiday village there,” said Izet Shaban.
