Petel.bg – news – Record number of participants in a discussion forum in IU-Varna

Over 220 representatives of real estate agencies, appraisal and construction-investment companies, credit centers, banks, colleagues from the academic community of IU-Varna and other universities from the country, from Vocational High School of Construction, Architecture and Geodesy “Vasil Levski” c. Varna, as well as students from IU-Varna took part in the discussion forum “Property sector: problems, future and opportunities” organized by the “Business, Investments, Real Estate” department.

The forum was part of the 38th international scientific-practical conference “Construction Entrepreneurship and Real Estate”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of “Business, Investments, Real Estate” (successor to the Department of “Economics and Construction Management”) at IU – Varna.

The event was attended by leading experts, including: Prof. Dr. Manyo Moravenov – executive director of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange and partner in Impact Assessors, Evgeni Vasilev – owner and manager of Arko Imoti, Atanas Kosturkov – co-owner and manager of a construction and investment company ” Comfort”, Lilia Hristova – Sales manager at Credit Manager and arch. Ina Dineva – part of the team of architectural studio “E-ARCH”.

The experts discussed issues related to the dynamics of the housing market in view of macroeconomic data, geopolitics and the investment climate, the risks of shrinking market activity and how to adapt the market to the new conditions; how expensive housing is and whether it is affordable in the context of the current economic reality and the income of citizens; mastering the cost of the housing product in the context of ever higher prices of building materials, but also the EU’s requirements for zero emissions in the construction and operation of buildings, etc.

The experts’ expectations for mortgage lending and interest rates in Bulgaria at the end of 2024 were discussed, as well as how the eventual acceptance of Bulgaria into the Eurozone will affect the real estate market and prices. At the end of the discussion, the experts shared their expectations for the behavior of the housing market in Bulgaria in 2024.

Among the official guests of the forum were representatives of the Varna Regional Administration, the Varna Municipal Administration, the National Real Estate Association, the Chamber of Independent Appraisers in Bulgaria, the Varna Chamber of Commerce and Industry, vice-chancellors of the University of Economics – Varna, deans and heads of departments from IU- Varna.

A congratulatory address was received from the President of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev, and congratulatory addresses were also received from Prof. Dr. Andriyana Andreeva – Regional Governor of Varna, from the Rector of the University of Varna – Prof. Dr. Evgeni Stanimirov, as well as and from various industry organizations, construction and investment company “Planex Varna”, as well as from colleagues from the academic community of IU-Varna and other universities in Bulgaria.

Greetings to the organizers and participants of the forum were presented by: Mr. Hristo Hristov – re-elected mayor of the “Mladost” district, Municipality of Varna, Prof. Dr. Bistra Vasileva – deputy rector for scientific research, innovation and personnel development at IU- Varna, who presented a congratulatory address and a plaque on behalf of the rector of IU-Varna – Prof. Dr. Evgeni Stanimirov, Mr. Atanas Atanasov – a member of the Board of the Chamber of Independent Appraisers in Bulgaria, who presented a congratulatory address and a plaque on behalf of of Eng. Georgi Georgiev – Chairman of the Chamber of Appraisers in Bulgaria.

The event was closed by Associate Professor Dr. Todor Raichev – head of the “Business, Investments, Real Estate” department, who presented the badge of honor of the department to all the guest speakers.

Prof. Dr. Plamen Iliev – rector of IU-Varna in the period 2011-2019 and head of the department “Business, Investments, Real Estate” in the period 2005- 2019, Prof. Dr. Konstantin Kalinkov, Assoc. Dr. Petko Monev, Assoc. Dr. Ivan Zhelev, Mrs. Sabka Gergivska.

Mr. Dobromir Ganev, in his capacity as chairman of the Board of the National Association of Real Estate in the period 2018-2023, also received the department’s badge of honor for his contribution to the development of the department in recent years and the development of good cooperation.

Moderators of the discussion forum were: Prof. Dr. Anna Gospodinova – lecturer in the Department of “Business, Investments, Real Estate” and certified real estate appraiser and Mr. Dobromir Ganev – Real Estate expert, Chairman of the Board of the National Real Estate Association in the period 2018-2023
