Ideas for the development of community center activities were discussed at a round table in OA – Kyustendil
A round table under the title: “New ideas – new opportunities” was held in Kyustendil, jointly organized by the Union of People’s Community Centers and the Regional Administration.
Kyustendil is the second district after Ruse, in which a round table of this type is organized. The reason for the event is the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
During the round table, Dr. Nikolay Doinov, MD chairman of the Union of People’s Community Centers, presented his ideas for changes in the normative acts concerning community centers. In the course of the discussion, Dr. Doinov answered specific questions asked by the present chairmen and secretaries of community centers from the entire Kyustendil region.
The participants in the round table were adamant that in smaller settlements the community centers play an extremely important role both for cultural life and for the development of social life. It was reported that where schools, kindergartens, and post offices are closed, only community centers bring a “spark of light” to the local people. “The community centers have the greatest role in maintaining and spreading Bulgarian traditions and spirituality in places”, expressed their opinion of the participants in the event.
The round table was attended by Vasilka Mancheva – director of the “AKRRDS” Directorate at the OA, Ivan Andonov – member of the Supreme Community Center Council and chairman of the Community Center “Bratstvo 1869” in the city of Kyustendil, as well as dozens of community center activists from the region.
