Municipal councilors from the group of “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” Mikhail Lukov and Evgeny Stanimirov want to cancel the decision to sell green space in the “Mladost” district in Varna. They submitted a proposal to the Chairman of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Varna, Hristo Dimitrov, to include an item in the agenda of the next meeting, “Varna Utre” reports.
The Municipal Council in Varna has voted to change the Annual Program for the Management of Municipal Properties for the sale of the plot in question. It is about 9 acres of forest at the intersection of “Republika” Blvd. and “Mladezhka” St., which is planned to become an office of the municipal administration of the area.
According to the appraiser, the market value of the property with an area of nearly 9,000 square meters is BGN 7.15 million excluding VAT and a 22% percentage compensation from the RZP of the future building in the said property in favor of the Municipality of Varna.
The residents of the “Mladost” area strongly disagree with this area being built on. According to them, the forest has been there for a long time, people take care of it, and although this area is part of the general development plan of Varna, it can remain uncut and even become a park for recreation and walking.
The citizens appealed the decision of the municipal council, but the administrative court rejected the appeals on the grounds that it was not explicitly stated what constitutes the illegality of each of the appealed decisions.
The decision of the chairman of the municipal council to schedule a new review of the decision is awaited.
