Let’s help Maggie pass

In December, four-year-old Magdalena Velcheva will turn 5 years old, but she has been fighting Cerebral Palsy since she was two months old. She was born two months before her due date, weighing only 1240 g. With a lot of strength and a thirst for life, she managed to overcome the trials that life brought her too early.

Since then, he has been conducting daily rehabilitation, swimming, speech therapy, and hippotherapy. Eye surgery followed, and last year Fibrotomy to relax the muscles with a good effect, but not enough for her to pass. All therapies and operations covered by own funds.

The family, encouraged by the good results of children who underwent this, applied for and received approval from the Children’s Hospital in St. Louis /USA/ for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, an operation in which part of the sensory dorsal nerve endings that cause the spasticity in the limbs are severed.

A week ago, Maggie received approval from Dr. Park, who has been performing the surgery for over 30 years. This surgery will reduce spasticity in her muscles, improve her balance, and give her a chance to walk. The amount is overwhelming for Maggie’s family, so they need our support to make it through.

The required amount for the operation is 51,680 dollars, and 18,040.24 BGN have been collected so far.

Maggie is a radiant child who captivates everyone with her smile, who dreams of walking and goes crazy like everyone else. She goes to kindergarten with mom’s help, and there she likes playing with friends, folk dancing and math the most.

Donation boxes have been placed in the Burgas Municipality building, in the Zvezdica Zornitsa DG, Kalinka DG – Rudnik quarter and Cherno More quarter and in many commercial establishments in the city and its constituent settlements.
