Tensions escalated, with dozens injured and detained
Clashes around the Vasil Levski National Stadium marked last evening. Fans gathered at a protest with demands to the leadership of the Football Union and demanded a change in Bulgarian football. The march took place during the match between Bulgaria and Hungary. Tensions escalated just over an hour after the demonstrations began, with police using water cannons to disperse the crowd. Dozens were injured and detained during the clashes.

However, what is the damage after the pogrom of football fans? On “Gurko” street there are broken cars, torn out anti-parking pegs and partitions, garbage cans, planters, bicycle stands, road manholes, even a police bus on fire. It is unique to “Municipal Police”.
There is also damage to the windows of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The windows are broken, and there were no police there last night. A huge pile of cobblestones was guarded by a team from the Metropolitan Emergency Safety Squad to prevent fans from using them.
The municipality will ask the organizer of the protest to reimburse the damage to the public infrastructure.
