A 25-year-old woman was arrested for fraud in renting out an apartment in Plovdiv

The District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv brought as an accused D.H., aged 25, for the fact that in Plovdiv, for the period from 13.11.2023 to 14.11.2023, inclusive, under the conditions of a continuing crime and with the aim of procured a property benefit for herself, induced and maintained a delusion among two different persons – a man and a woman, about renting out an apartment and thereby caused them property damage in the amount of BGN 1,500 in total – crime under 209 par. 1 st. Art. 26 par. 1 of the Criminal Code.

D.H. did not have an address registration in Plovdiv. She presented herself with a foreign identity – that of a Ukrainian citizen. D.H. obtained the driver’s license of the foreign woman, which had been lost some time ago. D.H. published an ad on social networks that she was renting out an apartment in Plovdiv, “Yuzhen” district, and indicated a mobile phone number for contact.

On the above-mentioned dates, the two victims called her. She invited them to the apartment for an inspection at different times. Both of them liked the apartment and, after an agreement, handed it over to D.H. down payment in the total amount of BGN 1,500. The woman handed over 1,300 BGN twice, and the man – 200 BGN.

After receiving the money, D.H. stopped picking up the phone. The victims filed a report at the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Plovdiv. The perpetrator was identified and detained. It is established who owns the home.

The accused D.H. was detained for up to 72 hours by decree of the supervising prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv. The investigation is in an active phase.
