Tagarev: Ukraine’s support is of strategic interest to Bulgaria – From the day

The statements of President Rumen Radev will not affect the support from Bulgaria, which is a parliamentary republic. This was stated by the Bulgarian Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev to the “Kiev Independent”. The Ukrainian publication published a material on how “Bulgaria’s Soviet stockpiles and large defense industry may be key to Ukraine’s success.”

The Ukrainian edition quotes the Bulgarian defense minister, who notes that “the cabinet differs significantly from the president’s position” on the subject of Ukraine and assures that the government determines the policy towards Ukraine. “Everything is in the hands of the cabinet,” Tagarev told the publication. The government does not discuss with President Radev the military aid it sends to Ukraine.To the “Kiev Independent”, the Minister of Defense recalled the joint initiative of Bulgaria, Turkey and Romania to remove the mines that fell into the economic zones of the three countries.

“We want to make shipping safer, but not to give rise to an escalation of the conflict in the Black Sea,” the publication recalls Tagarev’s words. Despite the provocations, Tagarev believes that still “this is not a direct threat to territorial integrity or an opportunity for aggression against a NATO member”, writes “Kiev Independent”. In front of the publication, Todor Tagarev stated that Russia “violated all international norms” and “destroyed the international security architecture”. According to the minister, the support of Ukraine is of strategic interest for Bulgaria, and more and more Bulgarians support Ukraine.
