In the Administrative Court in Smolyan, the case on the request to cancel the results of the second round for the election of the mayor of the municipality began.
The appeal, which disputes the results of the runoff won by Nikolay Melemov from GERB, was filed by the candidate for mayor of the “Our City” movement, Stefan Sabrutev.
Stefan Sabrutev’s lawyer is the former interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev. The hearing of the case will continue until November 23.
In a courtroom, the election papers were opened from the bags with ballots and protocols from the 89 electoral divisions. In the case of 28 bags with election documents, it was found that they were not properly sealed according to the requirements of the law and the Central Election Commission.
All draft minutes of sectional commissions were checked and compared with the data of the original minutes. Corrections and crossing out of numbers, as well as discrepancies in data in the draft and in the final protocol, were found. Some of the cross-outs are confirmed by signatures of members of the relevant sectional committee.
The process continued with the counting of ballots from all polling stations.
The Chairman of the Municipal Election Commission in Smolyan, Simeon Velinov, said: “After the break – from half past one, more or less for two hours, we opened and counted the ballots from five sections, which are the largest according to the number of voters. Absolutely everything corresponds to paper and from machine bulletins”.
