Students from Veliko Tarnovo University “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” held a study trip to Kazanlak

Fourth-year students majoring in “Tourism” have such a study discipline in the program.

“The purpose of these excursions is not just entertainment. They are related to enriching the students’ practical vision of business and are a contribution to their adequate career guidance,” shares the head. Nadezhda Kostadinova, PhD, head of the discipline and main organizer of the trip.

In the program of the excursion to Kazanlak, which took place last week, students and teachers met with the management of the newest medical spa in the area. In one of the conference rooms, the general manager of the complex, Viktor Getov, introduced the trainees to the most current trends in the modern hotel industry, presented data as proof of the high efficiency that the hotel has achieved up to this point, shared the main partners, thanks to which they are a fact.

“You, our employees and interns are the software of the hotel, and without you its work is unthinkable,” said Getov.

Three of the managers of units in the complex – the head of reception, the spa manager and the head chef – also made their motivational business card in front of the students, who justified their choice to work and develop in tourism, and currently in the visited hotel. The many opportunities for internships and internships offered by the site management company were explained. The students had the opportunity to explore the hotel rooms and apartments, the several restaurants and entertainment facilities in the complex, the huge spa center, the congress and conference facility.

A discussion meeting was also held with the director of the historical museum “Iskra” in Kazanlak.

Momchil Marinov shared with the students how the museum sites under his management develop over time and why it is important in the destination for all representatives of the tourism business to know and promote the cultural and historical riches of the area. Emphasis is also placed on the role of young personnel in the development of museum sites, on their motivation to build scientific knowledge, but also to apply creativity in the management and offering of the tourist product of museum sites.

In the professional high school for light industry and tourism of Kazanlak, the students of the “Tourism” specialty had the opportunity to stand in the role of motivational speakers.

From the position of graduates, they presented their vision of tourism and the modern opportunities that the sector offers. In their presentation, they paid special attention to the most attractive factors for them, which will still be the main motive for them to continue developing and realizing themselves and their ideas in business. These are the many opportunities for growth, travel to all parts of the world, expression through creativity and innovation, continuous enrichment of skills, etc. The fourth-year students did not fail to present the activities during their studies at VTU, which contribute to their practical training. Among them are the organization of Elena art fest – the first art festival of the city of Elena, based on the idea and concept of a student team from the “Tourism” specialty, a master class in “Digitalization in the hospitality industry”, a student project “Get to know Bulgaria with us”, participation in tourist exhibitions and numerous motivational meetings with representatives of the tourism business.
