The financial situation of the municipality of Plovdiv is unsatisfactory

The financial situation of the municipality of Plovdiv is unsatisfactory. This is due to poor management of finances in the previous mandate, announced the departmental deputy mayor Zhenya Petkova, a reporter reported to Plovdiv24.bg.

Immediately after the inauguration of the new mayoral team, a survey of the state of the entire municipality was carried out.

“The municipality of Plovdiv is in an unsatisfactory financial condition. The regions are exceptions – they are in a good financial condition,” explained Petkova.

An analysis of the European projects was carried out and it was found that BGN 20 million is needed for those that end on 31.12.2023. Petkova guarantees that there will be no unpaid European projects. The municipality should provide payments for them, in the hope that a large % will return. The current expectation is that 100% verification will not be achieved.

For the air project, the Governing Body has imposed a 25% financial correction on the sum of 14 million BGN. The sanction is appealed to the Supreme Court.

Revenue collection is a big problem – currently it is 67%, which is extremely unsatisfactory, Petkova also announced. That is why changes have been made to the manuals of the “Local Taxes and Fees” and “Economic Activities” directorates.
