Nearly 1,200 attempts to cross the border illegally were prevented

Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic said that border police will not withdraw from the border area with Bulgaria until the last smuggler is found and arrested. Gasic visited the police officers in Pirot and the Regional Center of the Border Police responsible for the border with Bulgaria, reports lupa.bg.

According to Gasic, 95% of migrants come to Serbia from Bulgaria and North Macedonia, so “the employees of the Ministry of the Interior will take all measures and actions to prevent the passage of illegal migrants.”

The Serbian minister also met with Gendarmerie Commander Saša Kosović, after which he stated that the police in this area are working hard and making maximum efforts, just like in the northern part of the country, to keep all citizens safe, given the increased influx of illegal migrants .

“Serbian police have zero tolerance for any type of crime and will be persistent and decisive,” Bratislav Gasic also said.

According to the authorities in Pirot, 12 traffickers were detained in October. 1154 migrants were prevented from entering Serbia.
