A family from Portitov got off with only a suspended sentence for assaulting an emergency doctor in Montana. The district court in Montana has approved an agreement between the parties in the case for a sentence of 6 months “Imprisonment” with a three-year probationary period.
The case is from the end of last year. On December 24, 2022, the spouses V.I.V. and S.R.V. were in Portitovtsi, where their 17-year-old son felt sick. They called an emergency team. The boy was transported by ambulance to the regional hospital in Montana. Dr. D. A. P. diagnosed him with “acute viral infection” and referred them to the children’s ward. The father did not agree with the diagnosis and the mother started a scandal, attacked the doctor, pushed her against the wall and hit her with hands and feet. They caused her minor bodily injury – nose injury with bleeding and bruising, hemorrhage and lacerations. In an attempt to enter the office after the doctor and continue the confrontation, the woman broke the glass door of the “Emergency” with her hand.
In front of the court, the two, who respectively have secondary and primary education, work in a company in the capital, pleaded guilty and stated that they voluntarily signed the punishment agreement because of the hooligan actions, grossly violating public order, expressing clear disrespect for society and carried out with extreme cynicism and audacity in a public place, in the presence of many people.
Before the end of the process, the damage caused to the hospital by the broken door in the amount of BGN 60 was reimbursed. The doctor who suffered from the attack of the two defendants stated before the court that she has no claims against the defendants and does not wish to be constituted in the case as a civil plaintiff or a private prosecutor. “I don’t want to meet people like that again,” she said.
The decision of the court is final and not subject to appeal.
