Drunk, who beat and threw a friend over the balcony, pleaded not guilty before the Plovdiv Court of Appeal today.
By a verdict of the District Court – Stara Zagora, H. M. was found guilty of the fact that on 11.11.2021 in Kazanlak he deliberately killed V.K.
The defendant was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months of imprisonment, to be served under an initial “strict” regime.
The defendant had known the victim since the summer of 2021.
They bought alcohol in small quantities and talked to each other in front of the store.
On 11/11/2021, the two went to the defendant’s apartment and drank brandy.
After several hours, the defendant hit his guest on the head and he fell to the floor, and H.M. continued to hit him.
Then he dragged him to the terrace and threw him over the railing of the second floor balcony.
He went downstairs and moved the body to the side of the block.
V.K.’s body was discovered the next morning by a man on his way home from work.
The defendant, through his public defender, appealed his sentence, asking for the sentence to be set aside and a new one to be entered, in which he would plead not guilty.
Alternatively, it is proposed to amend it by reducing the amount of the prison sentence to the stipulated minimum, as well as returning the case for a new trial to the court of first instance.
