Milena Galabinova and Albena Galabinova – teachers in a vocational high school in economics and management – Pazardzhik, with director Tanya Blagova, took part as lecturers in a seminar with teachers, directors and inspectors from all over the country, which took place on 17-19.11.2023 in the “Forum” complex, Pazardzhik.

He is the organizer of the seminar The National Statistical Institute – Sofia. Official guests from the town of Pazardzhik were Mrs. Micheva – senior expert in mathematics at the RUO, town of Pazardzhik, Mrs. Pavlova – deputy director of educational activities at PGIM – town of Pazardzhik and Mrs. Spasova from the RU of NSI, town Pazardzhik.

The seminar is held every year in different cities. This year, the city of Pazardzhik was chosen as the host, and the reason for this is the high success of students and teachers from PGIM – the city of Pazardzhik in European Olympiad in Statistics.

In 2023, the team TEAM_PRO with mentor Albena Galabinova took first place in the National Round of the Olympiad, and 26 teams from PGIM with mentors Milena Galabinova and Albena Galabinova were in first and second place in the country in the first round – with results from 95 to 100 maximum points. The team with mentor Milena Galabinova also had an excellent performance at the national competition “DATATHON” – second place in the first stage and sixth place in the second stage, which took place live in the “Bulgaria” hall in the “Samokov” complex, Borovets.

With great interest, the two stages of the seminar of the National Statistical Institute for sharing good practices and discussing the preparations for holding the upcoming 2024 Seventh European Olympiad in Statistics for students under the auspices of Eurostat passed. At the event in Pazardzhik from November 17 to 19, more than 120 educators from all over the country gathered with the desire to work with their students to increase their interest in statistics, to develop their creative skills through participation in NSI initiatives at the national and international level. They showed extreme interest in NSI initiatives.

The seminar was officially opened by Assoc. Ph.D. Mihail Konchev, Deputy Chairman of NSI and head of the team for the implementation of statistical initiatives for students in Bulgaria. “The Olympic peak is both a goal and a direction, but more important is the path we take to reach it. It is the path that builds the personality, and we as teachers know this best, educating young people with the expectation that they will be our successful future”, said Assoc. Prof. Konchev and reminded those present that the Olympic statistical peak is not impregnable, because in 2022 The Bulgarian team is the winner of the European Statistics Olympiad.

Yulia Micheva, senior expert in mathematics at the MES of the Ministry of Education and Culture – Pazardzhik, and Ana Pavlova – deputy director of educational activities at the Vocational High School of Economics and Management – Pazardzhik – host of the seminar, also addressed the seminar participants with greetings.

The Director of the “Multisectoral Statistics, Methodology and Registers” Directorate, Antoineta Ilkova, presented all the statistical competitions for students organized by NSI, as well as the goals, regulations, conditions for participation and the results of their latest editions – the Sixth European Statistics Olympiad, the first statistical Datathon for Bulgaria , the International Statistics Poster Contest, and the National Statistics Essay Contest.

During the work sessions, the lecturers – teacher-mentors of the winning and prize-ranking teams in the statistical competitions of NSI – Milena Galabinova and Albena Galabinova from Professional High School of Economics and Management – Pazardzhik, Angelina Ivanova from SU “Vasil Levski” presented their successful experience during the work sessions. – Troyan, Diana Savova from 51 “Elisaveta Bagryana” Secondary School – Sofia and Velichka Stoyanova from EG “Vasil Karagyozov” – Yambol. The mentors shared that the fact that the winners in the national round of the European Statistics Olympiad were awarded an excellent 6.00 in the competitive exam at UNSS for applying to all majors in the “Economics” field also contributed to the students’ ever-increasing interest in statistics. .

It was generally agreed that the excellent joint work between the teachers and NSI, the promotion of even the smallest success, the high evaluation and recognition at the local and national level acts more than motivating for young people to continue to give statistics an important role in the future. both in your daily life and in your plans for future development.
