Bulgarian President Rumen Radev awarded the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bulgaria, Dong Xiaojun, with the “Horseman of Hungary” order, first class, for the diplomat’s merits for the deepening of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and China, reports Radio China.
“During his mandate, Ambassador Dong Xiaojun worked tirelessly and consistently to expand and ensure continuity in the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation, in order to place them on an even broader and stronger basis,” said the Head of State Rumen Radev during the ceremony in the Heraldic Hall of the presidential institution.
Rumen Radev, the commitment of the diplomat to upgrade the political contacts between Bulgaria and China, the commercial and economic cooperation, the exchange in the sphere of culture and education. In recent years, Ambassador Dong Xiaojun and the embassy led by him have actively worked for the implementation of visits to our country by various delegations from China, which contribute to the development of sectoral cooperation in a number of areas.
“China is an important partner for Bulgaria and enjoys great respect in our country as a country with a remarkable history, culture and traditions, as well as impressive economic and scientific and technical development,” said Rumen Radev in his speech. He celebrated his state visit to the People’s Republic of China in 2019, when together with President Xi Jinping, they adopted a declaration on the elevation of relations between Bulgaria and China to the level of a strategic partnership.
For his part, H.E. Ambassador Dong Xiaojun expressed his appreciation for being awarded the highest state award. He pointed out that in recent years the friendship between the peoples of China and Bulgaria has further deepened, and the fruitful cooperation has led to concrete results. Ambassador Dong Xiaojun noted that the elevation of bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership opens a new chapter in the relations between Bulgaria and China.
