14 couples from Gorna Oryahovitsa celebrated half a century of married life together : RegNews.NET

14 married couples repeated their wedding vows half a century after their wedding celebration in Gorna Oryahovitsa. Their devotion to each other moved Mayor Nikolay Rashkov to tears, and after his greeting, everyone in the Ritual Hall wiped away tears, exchanging greetings and bouquets.

In 1973, 75 marriages were concluded in Gornooryakhov Municipality, of which more than 50 in the municipal center. 14 of the families created then repeated their wedding ceremony on Christian Family Day in 2023. The ritual again ended “bitterly” as it did 50 years ago.

Our wedding was held in the old council, this building was then under construction, and two years later our daughter’s baptism was held here, one of the “golden” families recalled.

You are from the generation that built Gorna Oryahovitsa as a strong industrial center. Exactly 50 years ago, our city was buzzing with construction, and we, the children of that time, played on the construction sites. I bow to your dignified life, I wish you to keep your love for each other and enjoy grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I promise you that Gorna Oryahovitsa will once again become the city that you built at the time and that you dreamed of, Nikolay Rashkov greeted them, without hiding his excitement and tears.

The mayor presented a congratulatory address and a certificate for the renewed marriage vows to the men and a bouquet to the ladies of the 14 couples. A little later, festive toasts were raised in the “Tyrolia” restaurant for the beginning of the second half century of their life together.
