Not so much the snow cover, which was about 10 cm, but rather the stormy wind during the holidays proved to be a challenge for the teams of the company engaged in the winter maintenance and garbage cleaning of the city of Dobrich – the local branch of Waste Solutions Bulgaria. This is what its manager Kalin Rachev said for the listeners of the Dobrudzha river.

In Dobrich, the situation with snow drifts was not as worrisome as it was on the inter-village roads, since the presence of buildings in the urban environment interferes. Traditionally, for winter conditions, salt is spread and snow is cleared from the street lanes with shovels. The good thing is that the temperatures did not drop drastically and the minimums stayed around 0 and minus 1 degrees. I dare to say that we managed to ensure normal traffic on the central city arteries and boulevards in Dobrich, he said.

Kalin Rachev stated that the meteorological situation is constantly being monitored and the company is ready to react to the predicted cold weather at the end of this week, when the rain is expected to turn into snow on the night of Saturday to Sunday. About 850 tons of salt and 120 – 130 tons of sand are available, as well as 5 machines ready for field work.

In many places in the city, there are still large branches broken by strong gusts of wind over the weekend. Kalin Rachev specified that the clearing of large branches broken by the wind is a commitment of the municipal enterprise “Sustainable Activities and Projects”, and the teams of Waits Solutions Bulgaria then clear the remaining small branches and leaves.
