Testing continues the BG-Alert early warning system for the distribution of messages to warn the population about emergencies and disasters.
On November 23 (Thursday), a message containing text in Bulgarian and English will be broadcast on the territory of the districts of Kardzhali, Smolyan, Haskovo, Plovdiv and Pazardzhik.
Athe phones of all three mobile operators in will receive the messages in the time range 12-12.30. They are expected to be one-time and accompanied by a specific sound and vibration, even when the phone’s silent mode is activated. On newer operating versions it will say “BG-Alert. Caution danger. Test Message’. Older phones will say “Signal from the President. Test Message’.
In a real situation, the texts of the messages will show the level of danger and what it means, as well as a link to the official page of the system for additional information.
Apart from Kardzhali, on November 23, Thursday, the early warning system will be tested in four more districts – Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan and Haskovo
The tests are carried out to verify the technical suitability before putting the system into operation. Trials of the system will continue across the country until November 29, when a nationwide test will also be held.
BG-Alert is a new system complementing the capabilities of the existing National Early Warning and Disclosure System, which will allow the competent state authorities to disseminate warning messages to the population in case they have reliable data and information about upcoming or occurring disasters or emergencies situations in a certain territory.
