The Minister of Regional Development Andrey Tsekov has made a change in the management of the Road Infrastructure Agency, which he renewed himself less than 6 months ago. Eng. Kaloyan Kirov, appointed by the minister on June 8, has been released, and in his place, Eng. Yordan Valchev chev joins the three-member management board of API.
The press center of MRRB presents the new head of the road agency as follows:
Engineer Valchev has over 22 years of experience in the design of roads, bridges and intersections in Bulgaria and abroad, as well as 15 years of experience in the construction supervision of large road infrastructure sites in Bulgaria and abroad. He worked on the construction supervision of sections of the Mezdra-Botevgrad expressway, the Struma, Hemus, Trakia highways, the Western arc of the Sofia ring road, the construction of the capital park “Vazrazhdane”, etc. He has over 10 years of experience in urban transport modeling and road safety. He graduated from the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy, majoring in Road Construction. He is a graduate in “Road Traffic Safety”.
“The rotation at the top of the API is carried out with the aim of strengthening the expert beginning and optimization of the work”, the ministry explains. In fact, Kaloyan Kirov, who was just released from the API Board, was appointed five and a half months ago with the same argument:
“With the entry of established professionals into the management of API, a strong expert beginning is relied upon, which will ensure transparent spending of the significant state resource for road infrastructure maintenance and the awarding of public contracts of great public interest,” the ministry announced on June 8.
It is not clear if the problem is that Eng. Kirov did not meet the high expectations or if there is another reason for his replacement. It is not clear who nominated the new member of the road agency management.
