Bulgaria’s under-19 national team missed a great chance to advance to the Elite Round after losing 1:2 to Andorra in their last match of Group 3 of the European Championship qualifiers.
In this way, the Bulgarian team remained in the last 4th place in the group, with only 2 points. Scotland and Serbia continue, and the British are the winners of the group thanks to the success with 2:1 and already have 7 points. Andorra is in 3rd place with 3, and the Bulgarians are with 2.
Already in the 2nd minute, Chung Nguyen Do tried his chance to score, but the goalkeeper of Andorra saved. Gradually the game leveled up and the visitors from the small Pyrenean principality leveled the game. The Bulgarians had more possession of the ball and at the end of the first half opened the score through Slavia player Martin Georgiev. Zahari Atanasov crossed from a corner kick, the ball fell to Preslav Bachev, who shot. The goalkeeper of Andorra Meireles deflected, but straight at Georgiev, who scored on the extra.
The second half started horribly for the Bulgarians. Jean Huma committed a foul for Andorra in the 51st minute, defender Biel Bora put his foot down and lied to goalkeeper Bozhev. Misfortunes for Bulgaria continued in the 54th minute, when Slavia player Kristian Balov, who came on just 9 minutes ago, was sent off with a straight red card.
Andorra made a complete turnaround through Alex Cornea Molins in the 65th minute, scoring after another cross from a static position.
After the 75th minute, Kristiyan Grozdanov, Nejib Hadja and Petar Kirev were brought into play, and the game was entirely in front of Andorra’s goal. Kirev, central defender Marinov, Grozdanov shot, but either the ball went wide or the Andorra goalkeeper saved.
In the other match, Scotland defeated Serbia 2:1 and thus topped the stream. Magnus McKenzie opened the scoring in the 42nd minute and Malachy Sharp doubled the lead in the 90th. The Serbs pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 7th minute of stoppage time through Jovan Milosevic.
