“Christmas pageant” 2023 promises folklore fans in Ruse a lot of cheer and prizes

On December 9 (Saturday) at 5 p.m., the “Danube” hall will once again come alive to the rhythm of Bulgarian folk dances during the traditional “Christmas pageant”. The attractive event takes place with the support of OP “Ruse Art” and is part of the Christmas-New Year festival of the Municipality of Ruse.

The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the fascinating performances of prominent Ruse folk dance ensembles, including FTT “Nayden Kirov” with the participation of all its formations, the ensembles “Zornitsa”, “Zdravets” and “Ruschukliiche” at the Municipal Children’s Center for Culture and art and “Zora” at the Municipal Youth Center. The popular Ruse clubs for folk dances “Igraortsi”, “Nashentsi”, “Flamingo Ethno”, “Zhaltitsa”, “Rodolyubets” and “Orisia” will participate in the competition, the press center announced of Ruse Municipality.

Dance couples will compete in the competition in two age categories – from III to VI class and from VII to XI class. A professional jury, composed of choreographers Emil Kostadinov, Reneta Stefanova and Yordan Yosifov, will have the difficult task of determining the masters of the folk dance. In the competition program, apart from the recognition of the jury and the applause of all the spectators in the hall, the winners will receive certificates of participation, as well as attractive prizes provided by the Municipality of Ruse.

As is tradition, the audience will also have the opportunity to show off their dancing skills. In the “Spectators” category, anyone who wishes will be able to participate in the competition.

The right to compete for the prize of Miss and Mr. Dance 2023 will be given to the first three competitive couples from both categories, as well as the participants who were honored in the audience competition.

This year, the orchestra of the Children’s and Youth Folklore Ensemble “Zornitsa” at the Municipal Children’s Center for Culture and Art will support the competitive pairs with their performances.

For the tenth year in a row, the prestigious Award for the most artistic performance, established by FTT “Found Kirov” in the name of its founder – the artist and choreographer Ivan Donev, will be awarded.

The presenter of the folklore festival will be the actress from the State Puppet Theater – Ruse Denitsa Doncheva.
