How to keep Bulgaria’s talents here

--

Bulgaria is among the countries that can definitely boast of many young talents – not only in the field of sports and arts, but also in engineering and mathematical sciences. However, in order to achieve excellence, our pupils and students are increasingly looking outside, although robots and high-level technologies are already being made in our country. How our talents can stay here and develop Bulgarian science and industry – this was the focus of the international scientific and applied conference “The Future of Talents”, which took place over the weekend in the Plovdiv branch of the Technical University.

The Quantum Experimental Physics Club has long sought and discovered many talents who have skills far beyond what the school requires and provides.

“For ours, and I suppose if there are other civilizations as well, the locomotive is composed of human talents. They drive the progress of civilization, and we, as a small particle, have been working for about 30 years with such young, interesting, intelligent and smart children,” says Vasil Bazelkov, scientific head of the club.

However, in order for these young talents to stay in our country and create Bulgarian technologies, joint work between business, educational and public institutions is needed. This is what businessman Krasimir Petkov, who has been living and developing a successful career in America for 33 years, believes in and works for. And in our country it creates electric cars. He knows how difficult every step was for him, so he finances a robotics laboratory at the Technical University.

The world-famous futurologist and social discoverer Jane Thompson also participated in the conference in Plovdiv. She devotes time and energy to supporting women to thrive in the tech world as well.

“Bulgarian talents are definitely first class and in no way inferior to those from the big countries. I think your place is on the world stage, in global technology, and the future will prove it. But what the world needs is for us, the experts, to discover and stimulate the development of these talents,” Thompson said, adding that education, innovative standards and international contacts are the key to the success of Bulgarian minds.
